A commotion was heard by various denizens inside the Blank Tankard last night. Voices were raised and some thought blows were nearly struck. An older drow woman with darkened yellow hair - some reported she was missing an eye - was seen arguing with a group at a table in one corner that included the well known drow Balin, a drow woman who some thought a priestess of Lolth and a large orc. Accusations of some sort were made by the older woman but her shouted final words before storming out were reported as being:

'A CURSE ON YOUR HOUSE!! MAY LOLTH CURSE YOU!!'

The older drow woman then fled as the Priestess had come to her feet and seemed to reach for a weapon on her belt.

The alleys of Skullport were recently terrorized by a burrowing, rampaging Umber Hulk. When the beast was discovered giving birth to a fresh brood of larva in the Black Tankard cellars, Johan was quick to put up a bounty. Many Skulkers were quick to respond to this threat and eliminated both the aberrant and its young. Although calm has returned, with Skullport's alleys becoming (relatively) safer, a few Skulkers can't help but wonder if the roaming predator was truly alone...

Up and commers

Those who keep an ear to the ground would catch wind of a scuffle between one of Xanathar's hands, and a lesser skulker gang. Some say the gangers failed to keep up their end of a deal, while others say, much like any drow; the "Orbs" had always been trouble makers. Either way, a truly massive fellow wearing the Iron Ring upon his belt was said to have crushed the their leader's head in his bare hands. Rumors, the fickle things that they are, could well be just that. The more grounded skulker may well consider it a flight of fantasy in its telling, yet this is the same city where a twelve foot tall monster bug rampaged through the streets not even a dark or two prior.

Scarlet Red and Ysandra Dustborn were seen with several boxes of items and equipment-- along with a massive heap of trade bars-- loading onto a ship out of Skullport. After a small amount of goodbyes, and promises to see people again in the future if at all possible, they both boarded the boat, smuggled out and back to the surface.

A couple other people saw them off, but no more.

For the past week, Scarlet Red had been giving away magic items, claiming that she had to return to Waterdeep. There is no word as to why Ysandra Dustborn went with her.

Undead laborers all around the city seem to have up and wandered off. Their owners little able to account for the disappearances; there's no sign of any sort of attack. Rumors spread as to some of these wayward workers, guards; more simply wandering out into the wilds. While others still insist it the work of some do-gooder band of holy men, sure to call the skulls down upon all. One thing's for certain, more than a few of the city's countless necromancy inclined are seeking to hire out hands; or buy out the corpse cart's latest hauls.

Following a brief rise in feral undead (Those being workers who broke away from their handlers and ran wild through the city), a piercing scream echoed through the local cave systems. The sound laden with pain, despair; most of all, rage. Raw, unfiltered; outright unnerving, it sent a chill up the spine of any who heard it. Those camping out in the wilds at the time return with tales of their very breath freezing over shortly after. As if all the warmth had been ripped out of the air by that voice's cry.

The well-to-do certainly aren't happy, whatever the case. Bad enough that their cheap labor should begin showing signs of a plague, but to have even the city's undead workforce become unreliable, coffers were soon to start draining. Trade has been soundly disturbed, and alleged skull sightings are on the rise.

The mage Rhyl Myr, a recent inductee of Sorcere, is seen at the traders and docks throughout the city inquiring after a certain shipment.

If someone asked the people he spoke to, it seems he was looking into the poultices for the sickened Skulkers that never arrived.

Skullport in its entirety breaths a sigh of relief as the outbreak in the city begins to fade in its prevalence, following the recent distribution of an apothecary's polutice. Many find it suspect that Skulkers weren't charged for the curative, spurring a plethora of speculation surrounding the woman's motive. Some believe she was financed by Haffa, who's labor force was particularly nulled by the ailment. Others believe the merchants in the Tradeway may have paid her off themselves, due to the lull in traffic. Whatever the reason, and with the help of more than a few hire-on distributors, the city seems to finally be returning to a 'healthier' state of being.

Attended by his wardrummer and shaman, the orc warchief, Krush Bloodwraith, entered the arena of the Thrown Gauntlet. The gnarled, hulking form of the mercenary, Turc, followed him in and the gates were closed. Putting Turc down was all that remained for the warchief to consolidate his power and bring the orcs of Skullport under the banner of the Blood Gauntlet. There was no call to begin, the two veterans of the pit knew how to start the contest. Turc pounded his halberd on the blood-stained dirt and bellowed a battlecry which seemed to shake the warchief for a moment. But he met Turc's roar in kind and Turc bowed under the malign influence of the warchief. Krush's battle axe met the whirling swing of Turc's poleaxe and the resounding crash shook the bars of the cage and let dust loose from the ceiling above. A pair of drow from House Lysaen and a gnome watched as the orcs battled and for a time the match seemed even. But Krush's axe found Turc's weakness and in a series of quick blows brought the challenger to his knees. Turc leaned on his halberd as his blood ran into the dirt. His voice was low but reverent as he looked up through his good eye on Krush's helmed visage and grunted out the word "Warchief".

A few cycles ago, in the background of the hustle and events surrounding the outbreak, there was some largely-overlooked commotion on Skull Island. Now, several cycles after the fact, it's come to Skulkers' attention (through murmurs and notices of a bounty) that one of the Iron Ring's 'cargo' escaped and fled into the Talgath Tunnels. A truly exotic prize for any would-be slavers or hunters: a nymph, from the surface. Few are willing to risk such a confrontation, however, as Skulkers are fully aware of what perils await them in the tunnels; especially with the recent inter-tribal warfare making travel all but lethal not so long ago. This is to say nothing of the dangers entailed to the fey folk themselves...
